This year's "Nagasaki Kunchi," Nagasaki's autumn festival, will be held over three days: Tuesday, October 7, Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 9.
The festival's main highlight, the Hōnō Odori (dedicated dances), will be performed at several venues, including the main stage at Suwa Shrine, as well as at Yasaka Shrine, the Otabisho on Nagasaki Port, and Chūō Park.
Throughout the city, you can also witness a tradition known as "Niwasaki-Mawari," where the dancing groups visit local shops and homes. Establishments welcoming the dancers can be recognized by the decorative curtains hung at their entrances.
Please note that traffic restrictions will be in effect in some areas of Nagasaki City during the festival period. Guests arriving by car are advised to plan accordingly.
